The Crazeology behind "Why We Are Here"

Why Are We Here?

I gave some thought to this, “why are we here” question... let me start by stating that we are at the top of the evolution ladder, we homosapiens are the most advanced being Earth had ever seen. many animals are born to adapt while we are born to make everything else adapt to us and therefore proving that we are the dominant species.

Evolution means a circle. Life itself is a circle. When we get older, we would shrink and even act more like a baby who needs more attention from time to time and slowly, we would deteriorate into soil. It made me think, why had humans been on top of the ladder for so long as if nature is just waiting for something to happen? We are the end of the line. And we might be very close to a full circle when everything ends and restarts.

Earth is slowly changing, nature is roaring. Earthquakes, Tsunami, volcanic eruptions, typhoons and hurricanes. Phenomenon that we were responsible for. This is the sign that Earth is changing again, like it did millions of years before. The ice age, movements of the earth plates below us. More is coming, I will not say when, but it might be far from now or it might be happening now.

Why are we here? We are to destroy, change the face of the Earth and giving Earth a chance to reform. Haven't you thought why humans had the glutton to destroy trees, mountains and seas for our own good and instinctively? Why we were still doing it when we knew it would destroy ourselves? At this very moment, as I am typing all these out, I am destroying Earth while passing to you this crazeological message.

It is because -I believe- that we were made to destroy this world, many species of animals were extinct and many shocking and unlikely phenomenon happened because of us but still, we would go on with our daily lives. Why is that? I ask to myself.

Please do comment about this..hehe

the Old River

it was the 15th of December 2006... 4 days after Camp '06. here we are again, Aaron, Andrew, Simon, Samuel and I ready for another Scouting activity. this time, we are really Scouting! scouting for a new campsite. we r heading to Sg. Tua. 1st, we met up in Asia Jaya train station, we got our one-day tickets that enabled us to take Putra-LRT trains and RapidKL busses to anywhere for the whole day only for 7 Ringgit!

1st, we headed to KL Sentral by train during the busy-hour at 0830 hours. had to wait in line to get on the train! jam packed trains stopped and went. i told the rest to split up and meet in KL Sentral. but fortunately, all of us got onto the same train. we stocked up some snacks for the road ahead in the 7/11 there and went searching for bus 109. it was a city bus to Titiwangsa, ah, thats the right one! next, we had to look for bus 2T3 that heads towards Warta Lama. when we stopped at Warta Lama, we took a little walk a round the small town. the time was 1035 hours

I was told to take a taxi from here towards Sg. Tua. but sometime felt weird, we were no where close to Sg. Tua, so we decided to ask the bus driver, he told us to take the 206 bus into Ulu Yam area. the 206 bus took us to a Petronas gas station where i met with Abang (i forgot who) who is a son to my mom's old friend, Uncle Wan. his son now works as a taxi driver, just what we needed. so, our next part of our journey was a taxi ride on a long winding and hilly road to a resort supported by the government.

we found good campsites and a really nice river. then we hiked up "supposedly" looking for the waterfall but instead we hiked up to no where. just a flat plane on top of a hill. the good part, was that it had a nice scenery of the mountains around.so, downhill we went again, we actually found another downhill trail on the otherside of the plane but we didn't want to risk getting lost. so we went down all the way back to the campsites, there we washed ourselves in the river, the water was cool and there was no "polusi".

after an ice-cream, i went around searching for more campsites and so i did. i found more campsites and a different part of the river which was a suitable place for river trekking. i managed to snap a few shots. a few were at the gazebo's just hanging out. then, at 1400 hours,it was time to go back, we called the taxi back and waited. Abang was right on time. he took us to the nearest bus stop from where he picked us up, and so we waited there for another bus.

bus 206, then bus 2T3 and 109 all the way back to KL Sentral. i treated everyone (including myself) to a cup of refreshing coconut drink.we walked around searching for food every chance we had. but in the end, we decided to take the LRT back to Taman Jaya and have our lunch in Amcorp Mall. it was 1725 when we sat down for our "lunch". i spent RM7.50 on that meal in a mamak stall. so, it was confirmed that i was full. so at 1800 hours, i parted from the team and headed back. went through the rain and nearly got myself into an accident again. a large Volvo came fast from my blindside and nearly hit me. thnx to the football skills, the "fake" and the "shimmy". once again, accident free. the driver gave me a gesture stating he was sorry.

the resort was quite a beauty but there was a price to pay for it. its a really nice place but its expensive. besides the healthy exercise hiking up that little hill, nice campsites, convenient facilities, a large area for different activities, a great river; we couldn't find the waterfall, the bamboos were far from the campsite, and the nearest town was a 13 Ringgit taxi ride away.

Alas, the last of the last...the very last..

Julian woke us up at 2 a.m..wait, at 2 a.m? oh crap we thought. and so we thought right, OBH time! Operasi Burung Hantu is when ur seniors put you in a place, blindfolded and you have to stay there for a *long* while. the senior taking me for a walk was my good friend, Clement Lim. he put me down on a wet floor, tar floor, if im not mistaken. nice, gave a me a special code so i would know who to answer and trust, then, he vanished. later, a few jokers came and *tried* to scare me. made me laughed tho.

so after a while, clement came and took me to some place, asked me to lie down, and started splashin water on to me. great! can't get any wetter in OBH than that. my underwear is already soggy. *sigh*. after awhile being splashed around by the seniors, they asked us to take our blindfolds off and let us go straight back to sleep. morning routine started at 0600 hours again. our morning execise was once again Capten Ball! i feel very sorry for my teammate got bashed in the face this time-by the ball-. i threw it straight at her from a point blank position. sorry!

and poor Adrienne got a lil bruise on her lower-right wrist. aww. i think i did that, a lil rough i guess. heh. heh. heh. oh darn.. ANYWAYS, as usual, it was breakfast time. this time, we had french toast! i wasn't in the kitchen that time, trying my very best to finish my reports. after breakfast, we had to get the gadgets down, clean up the campsite & the "fire-site" and pack-up. that definitely took awhile. all my injuries and aches started coming back after everything was done. oh great, my headache was back too. gosh, the irritatingness. after the pack-up was footdrill copmpetition, i was ready to fall dead when i heard the news, i certainly had no mood.

so as footdrill commenced, my legs froze, i couldn't move them properly as some of the other scouts noticed, i was limping -but i just thought that it was all in the mind-. once again, i did badly, footdrills aren't my thing. many people weren't doing their best too. after the competition, the seniors cooked for us! whoo! baked beans, leftover potatoes and chickens. good camp food! thnx seniors! that gave me some determination, only a tiny bit actually. next, we had to fall in in our full scouts uniform. the game was the "Troop Leader" game. its basicly a game where the seniors will test our leadership skills. Chon Giap was chosen as leader of our group. well, i thought i would be free of headaches soon but he made it worse, i was standing there, waiting for him just to speak for half an hour. i was aching all around. *sigh* i shall not talk about no more.

i shall skip Andrew's period, my headache was really bad already. by the time i felt normal, Andrew was nearly done. after the game, we shifted our bags to a class and Julian made us fall in, in the rain. tiem to finish our downs. but there is a twist, its either we do downs or get splashed with water. you know what all of us went for. i think the pics will tell much of the story. it was pure fun. made everyone feel happy and sad that it was so close to the end. Julian announced something that was really hard for all of us to take at that moment. it says BARIS, KELUAR BARIS!

so all of us went to change into dry clothes to get ready to go back to our beds, mommy's and daddy's and bla bla bla. i for one decided to go play Counter Strike with my bro's friends. slept only at 0020 hours the next day. there, the end of my rather short camp participating year. shouldn't have been joinin these felaas so late. but hey, no regrets anyway.

4th of the last

after the heart-to-heart, we were sleeping like logs and the seniors were tired so our morning routine started at 8 a.m. after fall in, it was straight for breakfast. that's funny, i think i missed sumthin. oh yes! the morning exercise. but that was nothing to me, literally nothing, we didn't do no exercises. we were standing at our "ready" positions during flag break but Alwin said, "yow nexs activity is , brweakfassst!" so yea, no morning exercise. ~okay! getting back to track~. Choo Xiang, our good ol Troop Leader gave a speech about the night before and wut we should be doing. basicly, a lecture. but it wasn't boring. odd but true.

on this merry day, Julian Lim, our famous Troop QM and some might call "Julian Oliver" or the "half-naked chef", thought us how to make pancakes. it was going well till we encountered an alien egg! it was green and smelly! and its called a rotten egg. a very tragic moment. we had to quarantine the alien and extract it as well as we could while Julian went to search for more eggs. that took hours (searching for the eggs). so we kept on cooking pancakes with different fillings and toppings. next, we had base system, its about learning new stuff! 1st base was about fire lighting, then about gadgetry. 3rd was about First Aid and last was about "parangs" and whetstones.

lunch time! we forced the juniors to cook this time, the form 1's. muahaahah! but hey! they did quite a good job, good sign, they have learnt from past experiences. after lunch, we had to fall in for another hunt, this time its a hunt for the seniors around the school, this was a slow and draggy hunt, half of the patrol were aching all over and mentally slow. chasing the seniors was hard because we had to stay in a group and half the patrol was almost dead -i think only our patrol followed that rule-. the good part was, FINALLY, Adrienne's group were behind us. maybe because their leader was forever far ahead leaving "his" "weaklings" behind. i thought that wasn't right for any leader to do. so, even before dear Adrienne's group could finish, two long wistles signaled "fall in" time. so we ran from the canteen to the assembly ground as fast as we could, being late, 30 downs!.

its time to collect firewood! and next was our BBQ night. we BBQ-ed the whole night. after i started the fire, Simon, Quek and I went to collect water to be boiled as everyone was running out of it. after setting up the stove and heating the water, Simon and I went to wrap potatoes in foil to be BQQ-ed. after the wrapping, we head straight to the fire! "plopped" some potatoes in, marinated two fishies and "plopped" that in too. I didn't eat at first, someone had to keep watch of the boiling water! so when it was my turn, my good lil friend, Far, made me a piece of chicken and a sausage. i greatfully excepted it.i only had that, half a potato and half a fish.
it was getting late, the rest had slept, a few seniors, Adr and i were the only ones left at the fire pit. we were really playing with fire the two of us. Adr hadn't had enough so MAGGI CUP was the solution. the form 5 seniors felt kind and offered us marshmallows! after awhile, Julian called for a fall in. its time for another wash up and lights out.

3rd of the last

once again like everyday, rise and shine at six a.m. and we had to get ready for flag break. OKAY, sick of this, let's call it morning routine. after the morning routine, we played capten ball! i got hurt by an elbow that came straight into my face, i was lucky the guy who hit me was less than 40 kg's. my lips were bleeding and stuff. Ah! just like old times when i was playing football for my school. shite, i feel old.

so my mouth was bleeding and the next "activity" was breakfast, oh how appropriate! One more thing, the seniors told us to get a heavy breakfast! oh wow! so, we did have a heavy breakfast and the salt didn't really make my wound comfortable while i was eating but who cares, i was hungry! after breakfast, we had to pack up and get ready in our uniforms, we are going around PJ! it's another Amazing Race! twice a year! whoo!

it was fun the Amazing Race, went to section 14, 17, SS2, Taman Bahagia, Gasing Road, Taman Jaya and Amcorp. our patrol walked tirelessly, altho the girls were aching on their thighs doing too many downs. they showed great determination to finish but to me it wasn't enough to do a good job as scouts ,but hey! you can't go anywhere without starting and i'm glad that it aint too late for them. i was trying many ways to push their morale as i shouldn't push them physically. i had to think of their capabilities and how they were at that time. it was only the third day and I didn't want my team literally fall flat on the ground. it was tough, Simon, our leader was far ahead most of the time, i decided to stay back and keep a look out. but in the end, we finished second good job team! and also Simon for taking point.

after all the groups were safely back at around 1830 hours, seniors had to fall us in and let us go wash up and get dinner ready. we didn't have much time so we only took bread and jam. after dinner, its time for another night game, this time its an obstacle course, blind folded! yay! but i was the leader this time, sigh, no fun for me. there was duck walks, frog jumps, wet comando crawls, mazes and up and under tables. so fun it was sad for me to just let the rest do stuff. its was hard for the team, the two girls remaining -after Karis was shifted to the other group- weren't okay, all suffering from aches, bruises and cuts on their legs but they tried their best.

the next on the agenda was heart-to-heart, a game where u can talk about all the things that were stuck inside them. my plan tho was to wait until everyone finish so i can make up something for all of them to listen to -typical of me-, well, that didn't work, it was going pretty slow, and then i got fed up and decided to use Adrienne's idea and abit of Aaron's enlightening speech to say something. but then came Andrew's story, i knew it was coming, i knew it was hard for him. that turned out to be the longest night ever. it was then lights out at 0430 hours.

2nd of the last..

the day started at 6 a.m. we had to wash up and get ready for a flag break. then, we changed to go for a little jog in the school and plenty of stretching. then we had breakfast, bread and jam anyone? next, the seniors gave us a tent and campsite inspection. we got a few downs for not being clean enough. come on! we are sleeping in the field! after that, more footdrill! now two hours long! luckily, my legs weren't hurtin no more and i was all ready to drill my feet.

then came another good news, lunch is next! haha..and it was also time to get back at ppl u hate, like Kuan Li, she actually threw nearly half a stack of eggs at Andrew! muahahaha..and she said it was an accident..yea rite Kuan Li! i think we had fried mee (instant noodles). can't remember..

it was time to finish wut wasn't done yet, the gadgetry! but the rain stopped us somehow and we didn't want to get wet. so, the seniors decided to give us more time on the gadgets but we didn't do much cause we'r gonna eat! whoo! then good ol Sir Kouk Sum gave us a visit during dinner and thought us how he made fried meehoon. which reminds me, i still haven't been to the top of Mount Irau! darn rain!

after dinner, we played a game called "sensescape", its pretty cool. participants are blindfolded and they are let to stations by a leader who can basicaly see evrythin. its a game to test the 5 senses we all have. tested bitterness, saltiness, sweetness, sourness, felt pain -bcoz of the leader who lead me into a pole and a bench-, softness, hardness, argh! you get it la..

next on the agenda was again another test for our senses, "Night Attack". there is a circular court where two teams are playing, one team is supposed to run around behind obstacles and the other team is supposed to shoot them with a torch light. only one person can be holding the torchlight the rest will have to help guide that person and the torchlight has to be turn on n off but not kept on. it was pretty fun.

after the game we had to show-off our homework, the cheer, clap, motto and name of our group. our theme was Y.M.C.A. but we were the Y.S.C.A. the Young Scouts Camping Association. lol. anyway, all the teams weren't ready and haven't finished their homework. so, once again we got lectured and punished by downs because of this. after that, it was washing up time and lights out! once again, i couldn't sleep.

the 1st of the last

the 1st day, this day i thought, was surely a day for all those activities -that were meant to set-up and get ready for the REAL thing-. 1st we were split into groups, of course.. Once again, i could smell disaster in my group -never had a competitive one but i have went against many- but we turned out to be better than i thought. 2nd was setting up tents for us to sleep in, then came ice breaking time. Ice breaking was fatal this time, the first time a froze infront of evryone. they asked me questions that was indirectly questions for someone else and i am supposed to know the answer. being unsure and indecisive, i had no idea what to say. atlast i blurted evrythin out and felt rather embarrassed.

next up was a treasure hunt, a rather smart one. i won't call it treasure hunt at all, its sort of like a "needs" hunt. after that, we had to cook our own lunch using the utensils we needed to look for in our "needs" hunt. quite smart eh? it rained heavily during lunch and the food was soggy. so wet the day was.next up, was 'Mafia' where there were many players. 8 Mafias, 4 spies, 4 doctors and many civilians, mafias havta kill, spies havta spies the mafias n the doctors should heal themselves more than anyone. pity those poor ol civilians tho, they can only sit down and nothing else, no killin no spyin, no healing, jus sleeping and waking up.

next up, the other thing that we needed to do for Scouts camps, gadgetry! somehow, its fun! so we built the fence, the gateway, the shelter the shoe rack and the clothesline. but we couldn't finish it in time for dinner, so we split up into 2 groups, a gadgetry group and a cooking group. after dinner, we had to fall in. now was time for our "homework". this is when we had to make up a cheer, clap, motto and of course our name of our groups. then, the seniors thought us new knots and hitches and also how to prepare the flags for a "flag break", one thing cool thing about Scouts is, we can work magic with a string!.

next up was footdrills, i had to skip this, something was wrong with my knee. tho, after a short rest, i tried to forced myself back to do it but this time like evry othertime, its all in the mind, i failed to do anything rite for the next twenty minutes. my seniors had to drag me out of the line. after that, our ScoutMaster Sir Cheong Yee Sheng came to meet us. we had to introduce ourselves. when i came to my turn, he completed my full name for me, i didn't like that part. so we talked and a lot about the past..and "BILLIARDS" it seems. after that.wash up!
